In 1915, Missouri made history by becoming home to the first state Farm Bureau in the United States. More than 300 farmers gathered for the inaugural meeting of the Missouri Association of Farm Bureau Counties in Slater, Missouri, on March 24–25, 1915.
By that time, 13 county Farm Bureaus had already formed across the state. Pettis County Farm Bureau—the first, established in 1912—sent 34 delegates to that historic convention. From the beginning, Missouri farmers recognized the power of uniting at the county and state levels to strengthen agriculture.
Mission Statement:
Today, Missouri Farm Bureau represents more than 157,000 member families across all 114 counties. Every county has its own local Farm Bureau organization and at least one local office, creating a powerful grassroots network that amplifies the voices of Missouri’s farmers and ranchers.
Our volunteer leaders work tirelessly to represent members in Jefferson City, Washington, D.C. and beyond, with the goal of advocating for sound agricultural policy and a stronger future for Missouri’s #1 industry.
